Marica was cuppingCuppingThe standardized tasting ritual — coarse grounds steeped in hot water, crust broken, slurped from a spoon — used to score and compare coffees. one day and by chance, identified a lot that tasted extremely good. She took over the operation of the farm and worked on replicating the quality of that isolated lot. Marcia and her husband could hold onto their farm, and today it is thriving with high productivity and excellent quality. When Marcia is not working her own farm, she coordinates a group of female coffee producers in the Mantiqueira region.
