Region: Thika, Kiambu Elevation: 1524 masl About: Chania Estate was founded in 1926 by Allen Harries, Boyce’s great-great-grandfather. Allen moved to Kenya from South Africa and travelled for two days from Nairobi , on donkeys, to the area that would later become Thika. In the beginning, the family set about discovering what could be farmed successfully and tried cattle, sisal and pineapples , but over time coffee became the dominant crop. Today, Chania Estate is planted with several coffee varieties, including the very rare SL - 14, and is also one of the only estates that produce high scoring naturalNatural processThe whole cherry is dried with the fruit still on the seed.
