Character

Roberto Brenes isn't your typical coffee farmer. After studying at Colombia University in New York, Roberto spent most of his life in the world of finance. It wasn't until retirement that Roberto began his life as a coffee producer. Located at the Northwest corner of the Chiriquí province, Finca Auromar is only two kilometers from the border of Costa Rica, part of what Roberto calls the Geisha Golden Triangle – a small, but spectacular, little corner of the Panamanian wilderness, that includes Roberto’s farm, as well as other world-renowned farms such as Finca Hartmann and Finca Santa Teresa. The biodiversity at the farm is part of what makes the coffees from here so unique. The terroir and processing are immaculate, and Roberto has finished 1 st in the prestigious Best of Panama Competition multiple times, most recently in 2022. For years, Roberto has dubbed his Washed Geisha, Ironman, as a nod to his frequent participation in Ironman competitions – and while the nickname has stuck, Roberto (now in his 80s) recently retired from competing. But, n ot wholly content to sit back, relax, and finally start tak ing it easy, Roberto has taken up hiking , recently completing a journey to summit the Cordillera Mountain range, that divides Panama into east and west. How to Drink: Just like you wouldn't add soda to your best whiskey, this amazing coffee is meant to be drank black with no sugar or cream.
