Las Tej e doras is a community lo t made up entirely of female producers. Community lots are an essential way for small scale producers to achieve greater market access and maximize profitability. By blending small individual lots together, into larger community lots, the results are often greater than the sum of its parts. The women who contribute to Las Tejedoras are primarily of Mayan heritage, and in addition to growing coffee, most of them continue to practice many of their pre- Colombian cultural traditions, including textile weaving. They create beautiful pieces of art, that speak to their traditions, their culture, and their communities. Las Tejedoras translates to The Weavers.
