We really wanted to meet Carlos on our origin trip in 2025 as we were in the same region where he is located, but unfortunately things didn’t pan out. Regardless this coffee is a great value, with touches of bright acidityAcidityThe bright, lively, fruit-like sensation in coffee — praise, not a flaw. Citric sparkle, malic apple-crispness, tartaric wine notes; light roasts preserve more of it. over an extra rich chocolatey Costa Rica terroirTerroirBorrowed from wine: the way a place — soil, altitude, climate, even neighboring crops — expresses itself in the cup, independent of variety and process.. We had this on espresso for a little while and it was great, I personally love washedWashed processThe fruit is removed from the seed before drying, usually with fermentation and a water rinse. Tends to give clean, transparent cups where origin character shows clearly. Costa Rican coffees on espresso, you can really draw out the nuanced complexity on this guy. -Jonathan
