Character

Region: Los Naranjos , Boquete, Chiriqui Elevation: 1500-1700 masl About: The Garrido family has been cultivating coffee in Boquete, Panama since 1959, when Teodoro Garrido established the family’s first farm. In the mid-1970s, Teodoro expanded the business by acquiring another existing farm, now known as Mama Cata. Originally established in 1911, it is one of Boquete’s oldest coffee farms. Teodoro renamed the farm to honour its previous owner. Since his passing a few years ago, the farms are now overseen by his two daughters, Liliana and Gissell. Distinct in approach, they share a clear intention to carry the family’s work forward. Alongside varieties such as Geisha and Mokkita , Mama Cata is also home to the Garrido family’s Pacamara. Originally from El Salvador, Pacamara is a hybrid of Pacas and Maragogipe . Known for its large, elongated beans, it presents a distinct profile with both savoury and spice-driven characteristics. This lot was processed as an ASD natural (anaerobic slow dry), resulting in a pronounced fruit profile while retaining the structure typical of the variety.
