Tasting notes

This book is a celebration of Ethiopian coffee, and of the people who have historically shaped it and continue to carry it forward today. It was made possible through the valuable contributions of national and international friends, partners, and coffee actors. Bunna — named after the Amharic word for coffee as bean and as cultural symbol — is a pioneering publication. It’s the first to chart a history and establish a context of and vision for coffee production, consumption, and trade in the voice of an Ethiopian coffee producer. With deep roots and an ongoing work practice among coffee-growing communities, respected affiliations in the national industry, and a global perspective informed by an international network of coffee professionals across the value chain, author Kenean Dukamo grants a uniquely holistic, grounded, and purposeful view of Ethiopia’s coffee legacy, its contributions to contemporary life, and how to encourage it to flourish well into the future.
