Character

DATE | VANILLA | SILKY Located in Nyeri County on the eastern slopes of the Aberdare Mountains , Muthua-ini Factory is part of the Mutheka Farmers Cooperative Society , representing around 500 active smallholder farmers. Coffee is grown at approximately 1,669 meters above sea level in rich red volcanic soils, with each farmer cultivating small plots averaging less than one acre. Farmers primarily grow SL 34, SL 28, Batian, and Ruiru 11 varieties. Ripe cherry is carefully hand-sorted before undergoing traditional washed processing at the factory. After pulping and overnight fermentation, the coffee is washed, soaked, and dried on raised beds for 7–15 days, allowing for clean structure and clarity in the cup. In the cup, this coffee offers a smooth, rounded profile with notes of sweet dates and soft vanilla, supported by a silky mouthfeel.
