Character

Tastes Like: Pomegranate, Lavender, Pet Nat Rose Origin: Finca La Riviera, Colombia Variety: Sudan Rume Producer: Julio Madrid Elevation: 1700 masl Process: Natural Finca La Riviera and Finca Milan lay about 45 minutes outside the city of Pereira in Risaralda, Colombia. There are over nineteen varieties of coffee on Finca La Riviera today and the oldest coffee trees were planted in Finca Milan years ago in what used to be farmland shared by coffee farmers and cattle ranchers. The first farmland cultivated with coffee trees was owned by Julio Cesar Madrid’s ancestors and has been operating for over 40 years. Julio is committed to producing incredible coffees and exercising his creativity in his processing methods together with his business partner and processor, Andres Julio Quiceno. Along with the many varieties which have been introduced to the region through Finca La Riviera, Don Julio and Andres Quiceno were instrumental in bringing the first Catiopia trees to production through their partnership with the Colombian coffee federation. The Catiopia hybrid is truly unique, bringing you the floral botanicals of an Ethiopian Heirloom and the bright clean acidity of a Castillo. Most of Finca Milan is now planted with Catiopia, Castillo, and Caturra and lies about 1500-1700 meters above sea level. Finca La Riviera lies at 1600-1900 meters and contains smaller lots of exotic varieties (19 in total!) and is also home to several indigenous species of birds.
