Luiz Paulo established his experimental farm, Fazenda Santuario Sul, in 2015 with the intention of bringing a global perspective to one of the more traditional growing regions in Brazil. The farm is planted with varieties that aren't typically found in Brazil but offer excellent cup quality in their native lands: Sudan Rume, SL28SL28A Kenyan variety selected in the 1930s by Scott Agricultural Laboratories, prized for intense blackcurrant acidity and deep sweetness., Yirgacheffe, Laurina, GeishaGesha (Geisha)A rare, jasmine-and-bergamot scented variety originally from Ethiopia's Gesha forest, made famous by Panama's Hacienda La Esmeralda. Routinely the most expensive coffee at auction. and many others. This lot is 100% Geisha, processed as a naturalNatural processThe whole cherry is dried with the fruit still on the seed. Gives heavier body and big fruit flavors — think berries and wine — sometimes with a fermenty edge., and sun-dried on raised beds.
