Friends of the Children is a national non-profit organization that provides long-term mentoring for children facing the greatest obstacles. Their model pairs each child with a professional mentor, called a "Friend," from kindergarten through high school graduation, a commitment of 12+ years. The program focuses on building strong, trusting relationships and helping children develop the skills and resilience they need to achieve their goals and break the cycle of poverty. Our connection with Friends of the Children began with the nonprofit’s founder, Duncan Campbell, who first became a dedicated customer of ours and then a trusted business advisor. Founded in 1993, Friends of the Children pairs youth with professional mentors in 36 locations across 22 states, including in Sisters and Portland. Packed in specially labeled 12-ounce bags, the coffee will be sold starting July 21 only on the our website and in our three cafes in Sisters, Bend and Portland. For every bag sold, we will donate $2. One of those dollars will be going to Friends of the Children Central Oregon chapter and the other to the Portland chapter of Friends of the Children.
