Character
“Testi” means happiness in the Harari language, and it’s not a coincidence that we’re very happy to showcase this beauty from the Adorsi Washing StationWashing stationA central mill where many smallholder farmers deliver cherry for processing. In Ethiopia, Kenya, and Rwanda the station name (e.g. Idido) often identifies the coffee.. Adorsi is privately owned and it’s located in the Yirgacheffe woreda (Administrative District) in Ethiopia’s Gedeo zone. This washing station is found in the kebele (Local Village) of Aricha, and is one of many owned and managed by Testi Coffee, a family-owned company founded by Mr. Faysel A. Yonis. This coffee lot is part of Testi’s quality improvement initiative, Premium Cherry Selection (PCS). Since 2018, this program ensures that best practices are used for growing, harvesting and processing coffee cherries. Through the program, Testi pays a premium to farmers who pick and deliver only the ripest cherries from their farms. The elevation of the farms in this region is very high – around 1,900–2,000m above sea level – combined with the region's cool temperatures, is ideal for the slow ripening of coffee cherries, leading to denser beans and a sweeter, more complex cup profile. Stone fruit and sweetness, finishing with jasmine and yellow peach notes.
