Region: La Flores , Santa Barbara Elevation: 1650 masl About: Proud Mary's connection to the Santa Barbara region of Honduras began all the way back in 2012 when we were introduced to a small group of producers situated around the town of Peña Blanca, close to the shores of the stunn ing Lake Yojoa . More than a decade later, that group of producers has grown in number, and our relationships have deepened. Ovidio Gomez was among the members of that initial group. Ovidio is a man of few words but hidden beneath his gruff exterior (often with a machete in hand), he is a passionate soul who cares deeply for the land and his community. Ovidio’s coffees have developed quite the follow ing amongst our staff and regular customers, with the newest incarnation eagerly anticipated each year. This lot is from a plot of Ovidio’s farm that was passed down to his daughter, Ing r is . After a few years work ing side-by-side with her father, Ing r is moved to the United States, and her plot of the farm is once again under the care of Ovidio’s tender hand. Despite not be ing involved in the day-to-day runn ing of the farm, Ovidio still separates the coffees grown on Ing r is' plot.
