Owned by the Harries family who have resided in Thika since 1904, the estate is located on a plateau surrounded by deep river valleys. The soil is a deep red colour, rich in nutrients ideal for growing coffee. The French Mission variety, widely grown here, is actually a type of BourbonBourbonOne of the two foundational arabica varieties (with Typica), named after Île Bourbon (Réunion). Sweet, balanced, caramel-leaning; parent of countless modern cultivars. and gets its name due to being bought to East Africa by French Missionaries in the late 1800s.
