Region – Acatenango region of Guatemala. Farm - Santa Felisa - 4th generation, owner-operated, woman-led. Varietal – SL28SL28A Kenyan variety selected in the 1930s by Scott Agricultural Laboratories, prized for intense blackcurrant acidity and deep sweetness. Process - NaturalNatural processThe whole cherry is dried with the fruit still on the seed. Gives heavier body and big fruit flavors — think berries and wine — sometimes with a fermenty edge. Until Covid caused it to temporarily close, Santa Felisa and their coffee partners ran and financially supported a day school in the nearby town. Schools in Guatemala were still closed on our last visit in March 2022. Santa Felisa now allows mother's to bring their children with them to work and the Farm supplies a teacher to be with the students during the harvest season.
