When Wilmer was only 20 his family decided they had to abandon their coffee farm due to overwhelming debt. When they left, Wilmer decided to stay and try to overcome. Within three years he had paid back almost the entire debt. While most would have rested, Wilmer invested. He took on more debt so he could purchase a 3 hectare farm just a few hundred meters away. The second farm had been abandoned and left to turn into raw mountain jungle. Wilmer worked his family farm during the day and returned to his new one during the evenings to continue his work. After six months of non-stop work, he had cleared the entire farm all by himself, with nothing but a weed whacker and a machete. After putting in more work than some will in a lifetime, and planting almost 7000 coffee trees, his farm Napoles is now a testament to Wilmer Galindez will and character. About 8 years after this story began, he is now producing some of the tastiest coffee we've had from San Augustin, which is saying a lot.
